Outreach Ministry

Outreach is at the center of who we are as a Church. Through Outreach at HCLC, we strive to share God’s Love and Word by addressing the needs of children, youth and adults in our Community through programs and services that encourage them to become self-sufficient, caring and participating members of the community. HCLC works with several different organizations and partners in Herndon, VA as well as greater Washington D.C. areas. Below are just a few of the organizations we are blessed to work with and serve. Please contact our Outreach Chair or HCLC Office for more information and upcoming opportunities to serve.

Loudon Abused Women’s Shelter
Every Fall, HCLC holds a campaign to collect much needed items for the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter. Please look out for our “Leaves for Laws” tree in the Fellowship Hall, which will have a list of essentials for women in our community. (http://lcsj.org)

The Closet
The Closet is a nonprofit thrift shop in the heart of historic downtown Herndon, Virginia. They were founded in 1974 by a handful of churches to assist low-income families by selling used clothing at nominal prices. Over the years, their mission has expanded and they have become a significant resource for the greater Herndon area. They continue to be a source of low-cost clothing and household necessities for families and individuals on a tight budget & also give away clothing at no cost to truly needy individuals. HCLC volunteers to work at the Closet bimonthly. (http://www.theclosetofgreaterherndon.org/)

Link Against Hunger
Supplying emergency food to people within the Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn, Virginia communities is the primary mission of LINK.  LINK provides food to approximately 75 families per month.  Those requesting emergency food call the LINK phone line and a coordinator calls back. HCLC members donate food monthly (alternating between LINK & Embry Rucker Shelter), by bringing these food donations to the altar with their offering to be blessed. Our Outreach team then delivers all donations to LINK.(http://www.linkagainsthunger.org)
