June was a month of busyness and blessings! We are very happy to have Pastor Kleiber with us to help guide us through the time of transition. She and the Transition Team have begun their work and they will be communicating with us as they progress in this first phase of the call process
Music Sunday was nothing short of terrific! Congratulations and thanks to Jeremy and all who work so hard to make a joyful—and beautiful—noise at our worship services.
The Relay for Life was not only an outstanding success in fund raising for the work of the American Cancer Society, it was FUN! Thanks for the second year to Vivian Jefferson for organizing our team efforts. Let’s hope this becomes an annual Outreach effort. It also marked the debut of our new banner. Check our Facebook page to see it.
We have had positive feedback on the switch to a single summer service. It’s being fun to put faces and names together as we all gather at one time. We’ll be happy to hear your reaction to this.
Congratulations to Clay Newcomb and his family. Clay received his Eagle Scout Award at his Honor Court here at Holy Cross.
While I’m always hesitant to single out people for recognition because there are so many in our church family who give so much and do so much quietly and behind the scenes, there are a few people I’d like to spotlight this month.
Emily Moran, who just graduated from Herndon High School, served as the Youth Representative to the Metro DC Synod Council.
Linda Butler and Anne Geiger send get well notes to those on our Prayer List and Shut-ins. I was reminded of this when we recently got a note from one of our members who has been on the list for some time and recently wrote to thank us for that, to say nothing of being the beneficiary of that myself.
ESOL has finished its formal classes for the summer but they continue to meet one night a week. The dedication of those teachers is amazing and brings many blessings to their students and to us as well.
Suzanne Baggett and Becky Morgan have treated the children (and the rest of us) to some creative and inspiring Children’s Sermons. A truly important addition to our worship.
And finally, thanks to all of you who faithfully support us day in and day out, in good times and in bad, for richer for poorer—oh and don’t forget to keep the financial support strong.
As always, God bless us all!
