Music Sunday is almost here! This year it will be Sunday, June 12th at 9:30 AM. The title of the service is Come, You That Are Blessed. It will be a hymn festival based on the many blessing God has bestowed on His creation. We will start with the Old Testament and the promises God made to Abraham. We will also look at some of the prophets and how God blessed them in order that they may do His will. It brings to mind to familiar saying, “God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.” After some time in the Old Testament, we will move into the New Testament and look at God’s blessing through Jesus Christ. The overall arch of God’s blessings in the Bible is interesting. It starts off with a lot of property and descendants/nation building, and moves to Jesus blessing His people with treasures in Heaven. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are pure of heart, for they shall see God. We then move on to present day and look at God’s blessings in our own lives. Finally, we remember that everything we have belongs to God and we are to be stewards of His creation so we will look at how we are blessed as a congregation and how HCLC can use its blessings to provide ministry in the community.
Following the service there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall to celebrate the ministry of HCLC musicians and also to welcome Pastor Kleiber who will be installed as our Interim Pastor that morning.
I hope you will be able to join us for this wonderful serviced filled with scripture, beloved hymns, and our favorite anthems performed by the Sanctuary Choir, Joyful Ringers, and Celebration Ringers. Remember that this is the first week HCLC will be going to one service for the summer. Worship is at 9:30 AM that morning.
Soli Deo Gloria!
